CHANDELIERS
Rather than any specific reference to the work of a particular artist, the constants of the Venetian tradition reflected in Bubacco’s work are color, theatricality, and architecture: we glimpse an inspiration from the Baroque in building up human figures, and a Rococo lightness of touch that permeates all his works. In his creations emotion is always tempered; for although we are always aware of suffering, we are spared from looking at it directly. Even in the Inferno there may be some possible consolation: men and women depicted in carnal flesh colors dance erotically, keeping one another in a state of arousal.
Clearly Bubacco’s art relates profoundly to the technical and chemical glass traditions of Murano, always experimenting with new processes. But for all its freedom and artistic interpretation, it remains above all the expression of the humanistic and figurative cultural world of Venice and its artistic heritage.
